Why De
Boerenopstand
chose Artica.
The brief was to turn an old town hall into a pop-up museum space. This was for none other than the legendary Dutch Farmers’ Revolt (‘De Boerenopstand’) in 1971, a piece of Tubbergen history that is still relevant fifty years later. The municipality of Tubbergen thought so too. They got their creativity from just around the corner – from us in Ootmarsum. And then? You could relive De Boerenopstand for a few months, in text, photos, videos and sound. To experience it as if you were there – fifty years ago – with your firebomb, slurry tank and wellington boots.
Exhibition
design
and layout
You have to get into the feeling of an event like this. We triggered the senses, using enormous visuals, objects that made the revolt real and tangible, and authentic sound recordings of people from both sides, for and against. We designed and built all of it.

The exhibition demanded real, immersive stories, so interviews with the people involved (and their children) formed the basis of our approach. The result? Stories that you feel … with arguments from both the farmers’ supporters and opponents.
